More control, same smart protection, customizable port blocking is coming to BitNinja.
CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall), one of the most widely used server-level firewall tools, will officially be discontinued. Its developer, ConfigServer, has announced that Way to the Web Ltd and configserver.com will shut down on 31 August 2025. After that date, no further updates, support, downloads, or license modifications will be available.
If you’re relying on CSF, it’s time to plan ahead.
We're introducing customizable port blocking, which is fully integrated into BitNinja’s security platform. No separate tools, no custom scripts, just intuitive, centralized control over which ports stay open or closed. And the best part? It’s included in every BitNinja plan at no extra cost.
While our core strength lies in intelligent, automated protection, we know that some environments require stricter access control. That’s why we’re giving you the option to manually block specific ports at the firewall level, right from your dashboard, without giving up the automation and ease BitNinja is known for.
While BitNinja’s smart, behavior-based protection already neutralizes over 99% of threats automatically,we know that some environments demand direct, granular control over network access. Whether it's for compliance, network hardening, or minimizing your attack surface, having the option to manually block specific ports gives you unmatched precision.
This isn’t about replacing automation, it’s about enhancing it. The upcoming port-level blocking feature offers powerful manual control without compromising BitNinja’s existing intelligent defense. Giving you the flexibility you need while maintaining seamless security.
How it works?
The new port-blocking feature will be part of the existing Port Honeypot module, and its behavior will feel familiar if you've used tools like CSF (ConfigServer Security & Firewall).
But unlike traditional firewall tools, this solution is fully integrated into BitNinja’s intelligent, automated protection system, giving you both control and convenience in one place.
Once released, port-level blocking will be available directly in the BitNinja dashboard. You’ll be able to define which ports should be blocked on a per-server basis, either by entering them manually or choosing from pre-defined suggestions.
- Easy UI for managing port rules
- Firewall-level enforcement
- Fully optional, nothing changes unless you configure it
- Seamlessly works with all other BitNinja modules
Whether you want to restrict rarely-used services or apply stricter policies in high-risk environments, this feature gives you the tools to do it, without needing additional firewall software or scripts.
Minimize Risk by Closing Unused Ports
Some industries require strict compliance with port exposure standards. In other cases, closing unused ports is simply best practice to reduce the risk of brute-force or zero-day attacks.
BitNinja’s port blocking feature lets you align your infrastructure with these standards easily, without managing external firewall rulesets or switching between tools.
When Can You Start Using It?
We’re in the final stages of development, and this feature is scheduled for release at the end of August. Once it goes live, you’ll see it appear in your BitNinja dashboard, complete with full documentation.
