The latest BitNinja 3.13.4 release focuses on refining several key modules to boost overall performance, reliability, and security. This update brings meaningful improvements to the MalwareDetection scanner, enhancements to WAF Pro's protocol header handling, as well as tweaks to the DefenseRobot and IpFilter modules to ensure better efficiency and fewer disruptions.
The malware scanner received multiple updates aimed at improving detection accuracy and performance. A new detector was added, extending the system’s capability to identify evolving threats more comprehensively. We also eliminated duplicate entries from inotify, which reduces resource overhead and improves scanning efficiency.
To ensure cleaner and more reliable threat signatures, we’ve prevented the creation of duplicates and refactored the signature generation process. This not only improves detection reliability but also simplifies signature maintenance. Additionally, a fix was put in place for an issue where scans could hang under certain conditions — improving system stability during intensive usage.
Handling of forwarded proto headers has been updated in the WAF Pro module. This enhances the inspection capabilities and accuracy in environments that rely on reverse proxies, ensuring better traffic filtering and more precise rule enforcement.
An issue was resolved that occasionally caused the DefenseRobot module to become unresponsive. This fix improves the consistency of automated responses to bot-like behavior, leading to more reliable protection and uninterrupted service delivery.
IpSet size limits were increased in the IpFilter module. This allows for a higher volume of IP data to be effectively filtered and managed, especially beneficial for high-traffic servers or environments using extensive allow/deny lists.
